All that glitters is not gold

Life and people are not always what we dream they will be. Sometimes things we may want or wish for could in reality be harmful to us without our realizing it. Sometimes things that appear bad to us will be a blessing in disguise.

This life is full of surprises. It will bring us on adventures, bring us to meet new people with unique characters, and bring us on wild experiences... But always look at the bright side of everything as it says in the Quran "things will happen to us which we dislike but actually they may be good for us "as Allah(God)knows what is best.

Often I find myself defending Islam to people who hear comments and experience bad treatments of Muslims towards non-muslims... or worst towards themselves. As I look over at the many disagreements I have faced related to the virtues of Islam, I recall when I came to Qatar 8 years ago and found myself struggling with how some Muslims were behaving.

I came to the land of the Muslims as a baby... very fresh and with so many dreams and ideas about what my new life would be. I soon learned that what I read in books was not always the reality of things because people are not perfect and books teach us Muslims of how we should behave... now whether or not a person actually behaves properly is a personal choice and not one that should reflect what the REAL ISLAM is.

I recall the words I often use to defend Islam.... ISLAM IS A RELIGION OF PEACE.... it has so many great virtues and values but unfortunately MANKIND (men and women) who do not practice the true Islam give bad examples and create disbelief and anger amongst the rest of the world who do not have time or the means to study what the REAL ISLAM is.

There are bad seeds in all cultures and religions whose actions will affect the judgement of others. As humans we are imperfect and full of faults. Before we point the finger at another, we should look deep within ourselves to fix our own imperfections and faults.

Regardless of what faith we follow, the bottom line is ALLAH  (GOD) Almighty is the only perfect being in this life and the hereafter.  With Allah in our life, we can overcome some of the most difficult challenges that we could ever face. As Muslims, it is our responsibility to show the world the correct examples of what Islam is.

I am not a preacher and I am not here to try to drag anybody into believing what I believe. I am simply sharing what is in my heart. If you a non-muslim, I simply ask you to have an open mind. Do not judge me for what you may have read or heard. I welcome you to ask me any question and although I know I will not have all the answers, I will do my best to seek the answer for you.

Please and Blessings of Allah be with You
